    Pretty good!!, August 15, 2008
By Weidong Jin
First of all, I am very happy with the delivery time, very fast ^^. And as to the product itself, this Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Router with SpeedBooster is very stable for most of the time, and the set up is very easy also. Although I experienced occasion disconnection from the router, it's just rare occasion, so it's great overall.

Product works fine. The installation disc provided did not work and I had to go to the Linksys website to install.

The router is fine. The software is awful., July 31, 2008

As I have read in other customer reviews, be prepared to call customer support if you use the Linksys software to install the router. Other info: the PC that is hard-wired to my home network is running Windows XP.

Solid router - but setup could use some easier configuration access, July 24, 2008
By The Learner (CT)
Overall - a solid router - with great signal-strength and relatively easy setup. My only beef was related to needing to get into the configuration to tweak some of the security settings. Linksys seems to assume that the average user shouldn't even know what the security settings are - let alone change them - so doesn't make them accessible in their pre-packaged utility for managing the network. You have to access the router directly - which was made more difficult by the fact that they provide the wrong default IP address to access the router in the documentation ("Oh yeah - the info on the website and the user manual is wrong" said tech support..." Not encouraging)

That being said - if you just want to get something up and running quickly, and don't mind sticking with their defaults - it is a no hassle setup.

    A good high-bandwidth router, July 20, 2008
By S. Perjesi (Las Vegas, NV USA)
My Belkin router began performing poorly during high-bandwidth times (ie. downloads, gaming, tivo, etc). I spoke with several people about an inexpensive replacement since I work in the IT field. Almost everyone of them said Linksys. With such a strong lean toward Linksys, I decided on buying one and went with the SpeedBoost version, since I do a lot of in-home networking as well.

It is a great router and I would recommend it for most. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
- Fair price
- Linksys = Cisco
- Many configurable options (including parental controls)
- Its fast and can handle tons of bandwidth

Cons:
- Initial setup was WAY more complicated than it should be
- Should have come with directions for intermediate/advanced users
- Using their setup software was an awful experience
- Does not wall mount

All in all I am pleased with my choice.

The router was very easy to set up and our wireless network was up and running in less than 15 minutes. The Macs we had recognized the network immediately. The XP computers took a little coaxing but eventually we were able to sign on 4 computers.

    LINKSYS WRT54GS ISSUES, July 18, 2008
By Larry S. Albrecht (Le Claire, IA)
As usual, delivery was timely and the deal went smoothly. As for the router, this was my first experience with wireless networking and I feel very strongly that the setup directions need more detail. Eventually it was up and running but then I discovered that the swithching power supply for the router also emits a noisy RF signal. I would not have discoered this except that I am an amateur radio operator and found the signal able to be heard on one of the VHF ham bands. This is something that LINKSYS could easily remedy, however, I have contacted them and heard nothing in response after two weeks. I ran CAT5e from the second floor to the basement and was done with it. Larry

Pros: Easy to install, simple setup.
Cons: not found anything to speak against, yet.

By C. E. Checa (CA United States)
I found the directions easy to follow up until the WPA settings, which took a few extra minutes to follow one small step at a time. After I figured it out, I realized that the directions WERE clear, I was just over-thinking it. Ooops.

I have had to reset the router (unplug, plug back in) twice in the year I have owned it. That's amazing, because the router it replaced was junk and would reset itself... every three seconds... so I couldn't actually use the internet. I like that it works. Oh, except I don't like how 8 feet away from it, my signal strength is 90%. I think that's odd, but then again, I can still use it from any room in the apartment without a problem.

I am not sure how important the antenna angles are, but I keep them pointed up like in the picture. The router doesn't get too hot, and I never give it a second thought. I just wish I could set it on its side with a stand to take up less space, but then the antennas would not work how I imagine they do now. So I get that.

Hot Link Booster does what it's supposed to, July 1, 2008

Great router, does what it says and is fairly easy to set up and install. I tried the N router before and brought it back.
This thing is old school "G", simple and it works. Great router for the money and does all of the secure setting automatically. Had no problems with various different kinds of wireless adapter that were installed to various computers and laptops.
Worth it, buy it.

WOW! This was my first wireless router. The setup was well bad. But it wasn't the routers fault. Setup it simple (I did it manually, don't bother with CD). I'm useing Vista Home Basic which is a nightmare in itself and setup cut through like hot knife. I set it up on a patching Time warner Cable service that it notorious to have problems itself. Switched to AT&T DSL and fought through a DNS mix up to get it working again. If I would have set it up on the DSL the first time I estimate a half hour setup. This router has not stopped working in the 3 months I've had it. It broadcasted (or tried to) through the entire or deal and I never lost connection to the router on my Xbox or desktop. I now run a wirless desktop, a sometimes wired sometimes wireless Xbox 360, and the occasional laptop at the same time flawlessly. After setup this beast is worth 500 dollars. I assume the Linksys WRT54G is the same.

Really nice product except for the "easy" set up cd, June 27, 2008
By Ultra (Florida)
The reason why I'm not giving it the 5 stars is because the cd for "easy" set up and installation sucks it keeps getting errors while trying to run, but beside that you can set up and install the router and your network accessing the router via internet explorer and it is easy and have no problem at all with it after the installation. Highly recommended

Hey Dude, where's my Network?, June 23, 2008
By Glen S. Schmidt
Constant problems with the router "FORGETTING" my network. I have to set up my network again, and again. I have done it three times this week. The router acts as if I have never set up my network, and tells me a "new network has been detected". I end up going through the setup proces a few times a week. For some reason, it also sees three of my xbox 360s ... even thoghu i only have one. I would not recommend buying this.

    as advertised, June 22, 2008

the router has worked fine since i installed it. the installation was easy and straight forward and i haven't had any problems being connected from quite a distance from the unit.
this product has just performed like it is supposed to. so i'm happy with it.

Excellent product, a snap to set up, June 19, 2008
By Laura Hastings (Tucson, AZ)
I wanted to provide this review because all the ones I read before buying the router were several years old. This router is super easy to set up and it works great. When you use the CD and set up the router the software automatically searches for updates, and installs any that are needed, which is great. I have Vista on my laptop and worried that there might be one of those dreaded compatibility problems, but no problems at all!

Also, my internet connection (wired) was fast before, but now it is SMOKIN'! I easily connected my two computers and now have my laptop free to roam the house and go out on the patio or in the yard and still be able to connect with the internet effectively.
Works great! Easy to set up! What's not to like?

    Wonderful product, June 15, 2008

Bought this because my Dell Mobile router died. This thing was so easy to set up I thought I was doing it wrong because it was sooo easy. I was up and running in about 10 minutes.
