Description:
Includes: USB cable and Setup CD-ROM. Connect your USB-equipped desktop or notebook computer to a wireless network at incredible speeds with the Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster. Using your high-speed USB 2.0 port, the Adapter delivers incredible data rates without the trouble of opening up the case of your computer.

The Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster incorporates the next generation of Wireless-G. In standard Wireless-G (802.11g) mode, the USB Adapter can connect to wireless networks at an amazing 54Mbps. With our new SpeedBooster technology enabled, your "real-world" wireless network performance increases by up to 35%! Unlike other speed-enhancing technologies, SpeedBooster is 802.11 compliant, fully compatible with standard Wireless-G, and a "good neighbor" to other wireless devices and technologies, using a single 2.4GHz channel as specified by the official wireless standard. And with SpeedBooster you'll see an overall speed improvement even when running a mixed network of SpeedBooster and regular Wireless-G devices.

To install, simply plug the Adapter into any available USB port. (It's compatible with both USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports, but 2.0 will yield the fastest speeds.) It gets its power through the USB connection, so no power cord is necessary. The included Setup Wizard walks you through configuring the Adapter to your wireless network settings, step by step. The Adapter is also compatible with the Wireless-B (802.11b) network standard, with data rates up to 11Mbps. And your wireless communications can be protected by 128-bit encryption, so your data stays secure.

The high-gain antenna lets you put your computer almost anywhere in the building, without the cost and hassle of running cables. Now you don't have to drill holes in your walls and climb through the attic or cellar to get connected to the network. Once you're connected, you can keep in touch

This has been the BEST wireless adapter I've purchased so far. It has killer connection speed and the transfer speed. I've now bought 4 of these and one is on my server. It is worth the money!

This network adapter is hooked up to a pc that is 5 years old and it is working very well. There have been no connection problems.

I had no issues, but I did not use the set-up CD. Instead, based on other reviews, I let Windows XP find the hardware and load the drivers. The only con to this approach is you do not get to use the LINKSYS wireless utiltiy (shows advanced signal strength info, etc.) that come son the CD, and are instead stuck with the rather basic wireless utility that comes with windows.

Instant connection to my encrypted in-home network. No set up required. No download required. All I needed was my network access code. Great item.

I fussed around for weeks with different products trying to set up an access point closer to the computer on the other side of the house from my router. My purpose was to get a stronger signal for the remote computer. Nothing worked until I discovered this product. Now, instead of the sometimes one bar signal, I get four or five bars constantly with no disconnects.

I am amazed that none of the Customer Service folks suggested this item instead of putting me through the suggested failed set up processes.
Absolutely perfect !

Couldn't pick up signal from the Linksys WRT54GS router in an adjacent room through a doorway (not line - of - sight) with a Linksys PCI card in a desktop or a built-in laptop adaptor card. Purchased the Linksys WUSB54GS adaptor. Had to move it about to find a "sweet spot" and it's been working great ever since

The Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Speedbooster was extremely easy to install and always maintains a strong wireless internet connection. I highly recommend it.

I use this with the Linksys router and I get a perfect signal from 160 feet away.

When my attic office became too hot to tolerate for the summer, I needed a wireless solution that would allow me to temporarily move my computer to a cooler part of my house. My Linksys Wireless G USB Network Adapter allowed me to leave my modem and router in the attic, and connect to the Internet from any place in my home. And set-up was farily effortless, too. My one complaint is that my connection is lost when my computer suspends, but reconnection is easy and usually automatic. I didn't take too much of a hit with speed, which was my initial concern. The product's fairly inexpensive price meant good value for my money. And because it is an external device, I can move it easily from one computer to the next. Now, no matter the season, I can be connected and work efficiently.

This device does the necessary job of completing my wireless network in my home.

Our centrino laptops get an excellent signal while this adapter typically gets a "weak" signal. Constantly drops the connection. There might be a way to reconfigure it through XP as suggested by others on this review, but I am not a techie. Yet another Linksys product to the trashheap!

I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THIS ADAPTER. THE SPEED OF DOWNLOADING IS AMAZING COMPARED TO DIAL-UP.

I never had problems with it..., October 19, 2006

There are a lot of negative reviews about the Linksys Wireless-G on here, but I used mine for a year and it works great. It worked perfectly from the moment I installed the software and it still does. I think (especially with computer components) there are compatibility issues and router problems, and maybe a freak defect here and there, but that's with every product. I've never had a single problem with it.
As far as the speedboosting capability, it might be negligible. I don't think it worked any differently and did not download data any more quickly than any other network adapter that I have seen, which is why I'm giving it only 4 stars. But other than that, I have no commplaints.
I prefer external adapters because they're easier to install and deal with, and if that's what you're looking for, this is definately worth it.

This is a reliable and good product. However, it is very likely you will have to call customer service to help you install it...it is not intuitive. The tech people were very nice and I think they are available on weekends.

poor quality, burned/shorted out in 12 hours, August 16, 2006
By user (in Ohio)
I was able to install this adapter on my Windows XP Dell, and it worked with my household wireless network, at least for a while. The next time we went into the room, less than 12 hours later, it had shorted out. It smelled like an electrical fire and (of course) the little indicator lights were not on any more. The quality of this expensive speed booster adapter is awful, awful, awful. Read these reviews. Do NOT buy this product.

I left behind my D-link DWL 132 (108 mbps) when I was on vocation which work great for me over a year. After read all the reviews, I decided to give this one (WUSB54GS a try). The signal range was dispointed (D-Link DWL132 have much better range). Setup with push button with Linksys Secure Easy Setup is easy with Linksys router, BUT I lost connection on my other Laptop PC which is not Linksys wireless adapter. I go back to re-setup my laptop than this adapter on desk top lost connection because of changing setting on the linksys router. One way or another, I spend 4 hours still unable to make both adapters work with Linksys 54g router.

This product has worked great with my 2Wire Gateway modem from AT&T Yahoo.

The real plus has been the USB connection so its not necessary to take off the desktop's back panel.

The connection has been good, and I set it up in minutes.

I tend to think that people who are having connection problems have a problem with their router, and not this device. I can see 50%+ networks from all over my neighborhood.

Just a quick positive review so people can get a fair view. I bough this product a few days ago and have been saving the receipt like a 100 dollar bill. Today I decided to file it. The product has been working GREAT. I have a Microsoft router in my laptop and connected my mother's 10 year old Acer computer through the Linksys USB adapter. Although it says it works better with 2.0 USB's (which are faster) my mom's pc has the 1.0 and she still gets good connections (up tp 56kbs) It is also super easy to set up. My mom, who isn't that pc saavy, already leraned to use the security feautures. All in all, considering how well it has worked I'm giving the product 5 stars.

Hi,

After installing the program from the CD, my computer just keep on restarting! Then I call Linksys and they help me to set up using Windows XP's Wireless Network Connection - then it works properly! Do not use the cd installation - it is screwy.

Most easy to setup wireless, October 9, 2005

I use WEP encryption; and it is very easy to just enter a
passphrase instead of remembering the 26 digit code; I had
a minor problem due to 2 speedbooster adapters in close proximity that cause an interference during setup; but everything is now working flawlessly. I have three computer upstairs and the linksys router downstairs; and I am getting avaerage 48 MB transmission, and very good signal strength.
