| Description: |
| With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with flexibility, speed, and security! The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G, Wireless-B, and other performance-enhanced SRX devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. By overlaying the signals of two Wireless-G compatible radios, the "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology effectively doubles the data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to twice as far as standard Wireless-G. And the farther away you are, the more advantage you get -- the higher data rate and reflection-friendly technology can yield up to 6 times more throughput than Wireless-G in some situations. |

Very low quality workmanship, April 23, 2008
By user (Miami, Florida)
I wish I could give this NO stars at all.
This unit failed after just one month of service. Shipping back to the reseller was not an option because of the lack of feedback from the reseller in the first place.
Investigating this unit myself, I found that the wireless card was NOT PLUGGED IN PROPERLY! I know it didn't shake loose, because it was actually secured with double sided tape! That means it LEFT THE FACTORY IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED!
After reseating the card, it seems to be working so far. Only time will tell. I am not buying anything else Linksys. If it fails again, it will be replaced with an Apple Airport Extreme Base station.
***Update*** After two more weeks of poor performance from this unit, it was replaced by a USED Apple Airport Extreme base station. The Apple unit has been rock-solid, requiring no further interaction - it just works.
I recommend NOT BUYING THIS UNIT AT ALL. Get the Apple AIrport Extreme instead.

Router dies before second birthday, April 9, 2008
By user (Irvine, CA)
I have had this SRX200 router for less than 2 years and it recently started becoming intermittent and it disconnects from the modem every few minutes. Very annoying, and should have never happened.

Linksys WRT54GX2, February 15, 2008
By user
This works well. I also own a Linksys WRT54G and Netgear WGR614 and the WRT54GX2 is more stable in maintaining wireless connections. I still can't tell if the Speedbooster offers any advantage though.

Many frustration, January 11, 2008
By user (Seattle, WA)
This sounded like a good product and I liked the appearance. The first unit crashed when I attempted to do a firmware upgrade wireless (blinking power light). After several sessions with Chat support was allowed to send it in for warranty exchange. The second unit was working fine until I purchased a Linksys print server and chat support decided to upgrade the unit wireless (another blinking power light) None of the methods on the internet or with Linksys worked. I was allowed another warranty exchange. The third router dropped the wireless link over and over. It dropped power for no good reason. I tried reinstalling firmware with a wired connection which went well, but gave me a blinking power light again. I give up!! I just got a Netgear router and it seems to be functioning correctly. I suggest you purchase electronic items from a local store!! You can just take it back when it faults. I spent way to much time and to much money trying to get this brick to work. I'm an advance tech user and have much more patience than the average person.

Great Router, December 20, 2007
By user
Have had this router for just under two years now and haven't had any problem. Had to disable the firewall to work with my VOIP device, but configuring the router is easy and it just sits there and works flawlessly.

Excellent router, November 20, 2007
By user (CCS, VE)
This router is excellent. Perfect for typical house. I have a good signal in all my place, inclusive through of three walls between the router and the laptop. However, transferring big files from the laptop to the PC is very slow. MAC protection, IP assignation, and KEY protection is include. No regrets.

Great and outstanding device, October 22, 2007
By user (Saint Louis, MO)
I love the device its amazing. Signal is about three times as strong as my former linkskys without the same technology. Down stairs areas would get a good connection maybe even an ok one. Not its excellent all over the place. Great product.

garbage!, October 22, 2007
By user (SF, CA, USA)
i was hoping to replace my previous wrt54g from linksys with this router, it didnt happen! i sent this thing back to the store because of setup problems at first and then overall signal quality just sucked, it dropped my wifi once every five minutes. tech support dunno what was going on so i just gave up on this piece of junk. right now im thinking twice about replacing ol' wrt54g its just a little old but its been the most reliable yet and im still using it right now, but this wrt54gx2 model should have never even been concieved of. i dunno who came up with it but its just another worthless piece of plastic and scrap metal sucking on ur electricity.

Great router., October 15, 2007
By user (Colorado)
Great router. I've had no problems with this router except it diden't work right with my notebooks stock wireless card (older Toshiba Satalite Pro 6100). I orderd the Linksys Wpc54gx4 Wireless-g Notebook Adapter W/srx400 and both the router and card work perfectly.

K.I.S.S. easy setup, and it works great!, October 10, 2007
By user
After a lightning strike scrambled the brains of my D-Link wireless router, I decided to give this Linksys a shot after reading good reviews.
The setup was Keep It Simple Stupid easy and went a LOT smoother than it did with my D-Link. 1-2-3 done, and the dead spots in my house I had before are now gone. The price was right, the setup was easy, and it works like a charm. Color me happy!

Not recommended if you have MAC or use VPN with PC, October 3, 2007
By user (USA)
I bought this few days ago and it had minimal signal with my son's mac laptop.
I had to disconnect it in a hurry when my wife's VPN connection did not work. VPN established but no communication.
My VPN worked fine though which is to a different place than where my wife connects via VPN.

Worked as advertised, October 1, 2007
By user (Boston, MA USA)
Easy to install and set up. I just popped in the installation disk and followed instructions. I have an Ethernet to my desktop and used the 128 bit WEP encoding for the wireless. I used a passphrase, which produced a WEP code, saved it on a flash drive and then entered into my laptop when connecting to the signal. Very fast compared with my older Linksys 802.11b router. It has a smaller footprint and may also be mounted to the wall.

Go back to the old router, September 27, 2007
By user
The horror stories about this product are true. After running a WRT54GS with a third party firmware for a couple years without problems, I'm not used to a router giving me fits. This guy has no improvement on wireless range. It enjoys nearly completely dropping connectivity while plugged in. Even after updating the firmware, I have troubles. I'm stuck with hoping for a new firmware to come out. Don't put yourself in the same situation.

AWFUL--DO NOT BUY THIS, September 20, 2007
By user (Los Angeles, CA USA)
It was not easy to connect, customer service was icky to deal with and then after all the work it didnt work, very very weak signal for the few minutes that it did work.
NOT MAC compatible also, dont buy it either way!~

So far so good, September 17, 2007
By user (NJ, USA)
I purchased the linksys wireless srx200 about one month ago. It was very easy to set up and so far it's working very well. No complaints at all.

Solid router, September 15, 2007
By user
I purchased this router as a replacement. It installed easily and is working fine. Reception was not as good as I expected with the router lying flat, but standing it upright using the attached stand solved the problem.

2 DOAs... I give up!, September 12, 2007
By user (Laurel, MD United States)
I was hoping that I would get lucky and not have the DOA problems that some have had with these routers. Sadly, the second one is now going back; it has the same symptoms that Linksys Tech Support worked with me on the first one that went back (gets a good IP address, but you can't ping it and the Setup program says it's not connected; this is on 2 computers, with different cables, etc!) I give up!

Great router for a decent price, September 11, 2007
By user (Decatur, GA)
It cost me $40, and it replaced a Dlink DI-524 router that seemed to not hold connections very well, especially when I was connected via VPN. I like that the WRT54GX2 is easily converted from a horizontal to a vertical position, where as my Dlink required rubber feet that didn't seem to stay put if the router was jostled in any fashion. The router was easy to set up (I have never used the installation CD on any router, so I can't attest to that). It did have a slightly hard time connecting to my cable modem, but I blame that on Comcast/the cable modem because the Dlink had the same issue. After I cloned the MAC address, I would have to shut both down, bring the cable modem up, wait about 5 minutes, and then bring the router up. My range is much better in my house than the Dlink, although I still have a strange dead spot in my normal seat on the couch by my living room. The Linksys has alleviated that spot slightly, but I guess there is something else causing an issue if two routers couldn't fix it. My only complaints about the router thus far is the interface to forward ports is a little misleading to me and the antennas (at least on the version I have) are not replaceable. I have upgraded the firmware once with no problems, but I didn't have any issues before the upgrade so I can't tell you if it improved anything. So all in all, I feel like I got my money's worth.
