Ok...not great, but, OK, March 24, 2008
By user (Cypress, TX USA)
I bought this product the Friday before Easter from Frys for less than the MSRP.
The box is misleading, it does NOT use an IDE HDD...this device is SATA. The instruction manual is misleading, it does NOT support either IDE or SATA HDDs...only SATA. The Specifications at the back of the manual are correct...it uses a SATA HDD.
Pros: It plays back audio, video and DVD/ISO files very well. The wireless network is pretty good. Boots up pretty quickly. Decent entry level remote
Cons: The only protocol it supports is NDAS (because Klegg and Ximeta are partners) Very basic user interface Horrible USB support. It has two USB host ports, files are accessed via USB 1 or USB 2 and as far as I can tell it does not support USB hubs. User interface does not refresh properly and often reflects the local or USB files when it should be an attached network path. No internet radio Minimal support (via email only) Horrible and misleading documentation Misleading copy on box.
The device is actually slightly more attractive and smaller than the box would imply. It is not just a black brick with an antenna, it actually has a plastic/glass from panel and is nicely crafted.
The navigation buttons on the front are useful and there are a series of lights that show how the device is hooked up and how it's currently configured (and it blinks prettily when it's first turned on.)
